Overflow After Dark was birthed out of the vision to provide local artists and entrepreneurs with a professional platform to showcase their work. Overflow After Dark is an interactive music experience fusing the heart of blues, soul, and jazz from generations past to the present.
Overflow Coffee is located at 1449 S Michigan Ave—the former home of Vee-Jay Records, at one time the largest independent, Black-owned record company in the world, followed by Brunswick Records, whose artists reached the Billboard R&B singles chart an astonishing 150 times. Both labels are a significant part of the remarkable and sometimes turbulent story of classic soul and R&B music.
Overflow’s June 26th event—the first in our new space—will feature present-day hometown artists D.Lylez from the Voice and Sharon Irving from America’s Got Talent, as well as Billboard Top 20 Artist Jessica Love as Emcee! Join us for a memorable evening of poetry, music, and storytelling in a place where so much Black music excellence was launched!
Tickets $20/eventbrite, $25/door. Limited Seats available. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
